Due to being sick this week I felt it was important to talk about preventing getting this nasty thing I got. You get sick by coming in contact with a microorganism, which is too small for the naked eye and a few examples are in the form of a fungi, bacteria, or a virus. Some microorganisms actually promote good health but the ones that don’t we call “germs.”
Germs can be transferred in different ways; via the air (if somebody coughs), indirect contact (touching a countertop that had raw meat on it and never disinfected), direct contact (touching the hand of somebody sick), and many other ways.
Now, we can trap ourselves in our house in an attempt to avoid getting germs but we all have jobs, places to be, people to see. To help prevent getting germs you can do the following:
1. Wash your hands frequently (especially before and after eating)
2. Cover your mouth when you sneeze or cough
3. Avoid contact with your mouth, nose, or eyes (Especially during flu season)
4. Eat a balanced diet
5. Lead a healthy life style (exercise can boost your immune system)
Flu season is almost over…hang in there. In the mean time follow the above tips and stay flu-free!
